Nearly 80% of Americans, according to a 2017 report, live paycheck to paycheck. That’s a statistic Verve wants to change, and in July and August we teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh to prepare youth for life after graduation with financial education.

Area youth got a hands-on look at their potential future through an interactive Reality Store, which challenged students to choose a career and learn how to live within their means by balancing a checkbook. As we browsed the vision boards youth made to represent their futures, we were inspired by the ways local youth want to make an impact on the world.

Verve team members taught youth how to use checks, and more importantly, how to balance their account sheets and live within their means by using a variety of scenarios, including receiving paychecks, paying rent and more.

We were proud to be part of an interactive financial literacy program that has such a positive impact on youth in our communities. It was so much fun to see nearly 100 youth share their dreams and excitement with us as they planned for the future. We can’t wait to see where the future takes our youth!
