Ever wonder what life in Wisconsin was like in the 1900s? Come experience it for yourself at the Mid-Lakes Thresheree from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Manitowoc County Historical Society (924 Pinecrest Road). Stroll through 25 historic buildings, see how antique machines work and how bread and butter are made, or do farm chores to earn a few coins throughout the day.

Come visit us at our financial station!

We’ll be there helping kids “open an account” by signing their names in an old ledger book. Then kids can earn their first wooden coin by building their own piggy bank. We’ll supply the containers, glue, paper, crayons, markers, stickers and more; you bring the creativity! Then come back and visit us after you’ve earned your coins and we’ll give you a deposit slip to use at the cattle auction.

Getting out in the community, having fun and learning about history (and money)? Now that’s wooden coin-worthy!
