In November we focused on helping families by offering an educational event on dementia in La Crosse, as well as a free kids’ event in Oshkosh.
On Monday, November 12, Verve and Gundersen Health System® partnered to offer the 2018 Healthy Aging Conference—Dementia: Understanding Their Journey to help teach families and caregivers about dementia and ways to help those who have been impacted. At the sold-out conference, attendees learned about the latest research and tips on healthy living, the relationship between dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, tips for helping manage a loved one’s finances, and more from local and national experts.
Dementia impacts more than 50 million people worldwide, which is why we partnered with Gundersen Health System® to help fund the conference and keep costs low for attendees. We also gave each attendee a Verve fleece blanket to keep in their car in the event a caregiver needs to stay overnight at the last minute.
More than 250 toys collected for families in need—thanks to YOU!
The Paine and Verve invited children to enjoy Nutcracker in the Castle for free on Friday and Saturday of opening weekend, and families were encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift to place under the tree for families in need right here in our community. Thanks to YOUR generosity, we collected 262 toys!
Verve team members greeted 2,551 Nutcracker guests, 1,390 of which were kids. It filled us with joy to see so many families enjoying the breathtakingly beautiful Nutcracker displays.
Verve also provided a professional photographer and captured free family photos for more than 500 families. If you visited us, don’t forget to download your photo!
We know that when we invest time and money into our communities, we make them a better place to live, work and worship. That’s why we were proud to educate families and caregivers about dementia and give families an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season together with free kids days at Nutcracker in the Castle.
