Giving back to the community is really important to us, so important that investing in our community is one of Verve’s seven guiding principles. We look for and support organizations that share our commitment to making our communities a better place to live, work and worship, which is why we became a Hub Oshkosh partner in 2016.
Giving back to the community is really important to us, so important that investing in our community is one of Verve’s seven guiding principles. Hub Oshkosh is a community of nonprofits and businesses committed to improving lives.
There is no one cause, no one organization and no one solution that can reduce poverty on its own. Hub Oshkosh brings together a variety of community organizations—all of which share a passion and focus for reducing poverty and expanding opportunities for people in need—and connects people struggling to make ends meet with a free coach to act as a guide on their journey to becoming financially stable.
Most Hub Oshkosh participants live paycheck to paycheck, and when life throws a curveball—like an unexpected medical bill or car repair—it can mean choosing between paying rent or putting food on the table. While Hub Oshkosh does not provide emergency financial assistance, it does help participants develop a step-by-step plan to become more financially stable.
Providing a hand up, not a hand out.
Sometimes, the hardest part of making a change and creating a better life is figuring out where to go or who to ask for help. It can be overwhelming. Hub coaches take the confusion of not knowing where to begin out of the picture by referring participants to appropriate resources and developing action plans to reach economic stability.
Coaches connect mentees with a variety of programs and organizations that offer job training, career development, affordable housing, affordable childcare, social support systems and public assistance programs.
Investing in our future by coming alongside community organizations.
Verve is committed to helping improve the well-being and stability of all Oshkosh residents, which is why we serve as a Hub Oshkosh partner, providing direction for the organization by serving on the steering committee and raising awareness through communications support.
Want to help, too?
Hub Oshkosh is always looking for caring, motivated individuals who are committed to making Oshkosh a better place. If you are interested in becoming a coach or partnering with Hub, visit the Hub Oshkosh website to learn more.
