Walleye Weekend is Fond du Lac’s largest fundraising event for area non-profits & we show our thanks to area nonprofits each year with our Grand GiveBack contest.
The results are in, folks!
Walleye Weekend, as much as it is a lure-casting, cheese curd-squeaking, live music-bumping festival, Walleye Weekend is also Fond du Lac’s largest fundraising event for area non-profits. With giving back to community as one of our top priorities, Verve is proud to be a long-time supporter of this event, and we show our thanks to area nonprofits each year with our Grand GiveBack contest.
For the contest, we called on local organizations to share what Walleye Weekend means to them, and a committee of leaders from Verve and the community picked the top ten entrants, which you heard about on K107. The nine runners-up will receive $100 from the Fond du Lac Area Foundation. The winner will get $1,000 from Verve (talk about a Grand GiveBack) to support its community-based efforts.
And, the main character of this year’s story is… drum roll please… Local 400 Fond du Lac Firefighters! You might recognize local 400 Firefighters as the servers of those beloved gyros and the sound of the fire bell at Walleye Weekend every year. Check out the announcement video here.
One hundred percent of the group’s profits at Walleye Weekend goes to supporting charities. They made a national commitment to the Muscular Dystrophy association but most of their concentration is local to Fond du Lac. They are currently fundraising for the installation of a fire truck exhibit at the Fond du Lac Children’s Museum.
