We surely have become stronger together since the merger with Best Advantage and Lakeview . As one united organization, we had a very charitable 2014! By rewarding staff donations with the option to dress casually at work, our credit union makes giving to charity as easy as putting on a pair of jeans.
This year, our employees raised more than $5,000 toward over a dozen charities—and they looked good doing it! Through our program, Casual for a Cause at Work, employees can wear business-casual attire if they donate a certain amount to a designated charity or cause. By giving $5 or donating school supplies to a back-to-school drive this year, employees could show their commitment by wearing jeans and other casual clothes to work.
Charity plays an important role at our credit union, which operates according to the 7 Cooperative Principles. Donating to charity demonstrates the principle “concern for community,” not to mention “cooperation among cooperatives” and “member participation.” Backed by teamwork and generosity, casual need not be limited to Friday.
Our employees donated to a range of local and national causes this year:
Day by Day Warming Shelter
Wounded Warrior Project
FDL Humane Society
Zion Food Pantry
Old Glory Honor Flight
Relay for Life
United Way Back to School Drive
Harbor House and Christine Ann Center
