We’re proud to have sponsored a Habitat for Humanity Build Day on Thursday, May 22nd. A handful of our employees were out there lending a hand in the construction of a house for a very deserving family. The recipients of the latest Habitat for Humanity build in Fond du Lac, Taylor and Sarah Schanilec and their children, are the proud owners of this new home that they will also be helping to build thanks to this fantastic organization that we proudly support.
Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building home, communities, and hope. They feel that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent and affordable place to live in safety and that’s why they began building these homes. Habitat of Fond du Lac has already completed 23 homes in the community. Wow! As we are vested in the communities that we serve, we enjoy being a part of an event that helps to improve the lives of people throughout Wisconsin. Every year, we sponsor a build day and send 10-15 employee volunteers along to help out with anything from roofing to framing to painting – whatever needs to be done.
What better way for us to show our support for the 7 Cooperative principles – especially #7, which is Concern for Community. As an organization, we believe that supporting the community monetarily is important, but we also feel that we have an obligation to roll up our sleeves and do the work too.
