Have you ever wondered why we were wearing jeans or a Wisconsin sports team jersey the last time you visited your favorite CitizensFirst branch? Here at your credit union, we believe that giving back to community organizations is our responsibility. Have you ever wondered why we were wearing jeans or a Wisconsin sports team jersey the last time you visited your favorite CitizensFirst branch? Here at your credit union, we believe that giving back to community organizations is our responsibility. Our Events Committee chooses a local organization to benefit from our monthly Casual for a Cause day. Our employees can choose to pay to dress casually – normally a $3 donation to the chosen organization. That’s a small price to dress in your favorite casual gear and make a difference in your community at the same time. It’s a win-win situation.
This month’s Casual for a Cause money will be going to the Old Glory Honor Flight. Old Glory Honor Flight is an organization that provides transportation for our World War II and Korean War veterans to travel from Wisconsin to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials that were built in their honor. We think that is pretty awesome. Sponsorships and donations such as ours help the Old Glory Honor Flight fund a day long trip that is completely free of charge for veterans. Old Glory Honor Flight also trains volunteers to work with our veterans during their visit to our nation’s capital.
The next Old Glory Honor Flight is scheduled to take place on June 17th of this year. Veterans will be taking the 24th Honor Flight leaving from Outagamie County Regional Airport in Appleton. Since its inception, the Honor Flight has taken over 2,000 war veterans to the place that honors them.
So the next time you see one of us dressed casually, ask us what organization we’re supporting and we’d be happy to tell you all about it!
